Smaller neighbourhood strips often have less formally recorded history. Community recollections need to be distinguished from verified history. Council’s historic walks and Maroondah Heritage Study provide further starting points.

The source guide records 37 shopping areas and a food-business baseline of 477 records, including retained closed-business records. This is not a count of currently operating shops or a complete tenant directory.

Future additions include individual business profiles, community stories and deeper histories. Closures and changes should be recorded without erasing a strip’s history. Suggestions and important historical claims need checking before publication.
