MX editorial illustration of a local chicken meal with roast chicken, chips and salad in a suburban Maroondah setting.

Maroondah Chicken Guide

“Where should we get chicken?” sounds simple until you look at the local map. Across Maroondah it can mean a neighbourhood charcoal-chicken shop, Vietnamese fried chicken in a bánh mì, a national roast or fried-chicken chain, or fresh poultry to cook at home.

Last checked: 24 August 2026, using the approved MX food-business snapshot recorded on 18 August 2026 and current direct public sources. Menus, prices, hours and ordering options can change, so check directly before travelling or ordering.

What the chicken map actually shows

One search, three different local needs

The broad data search produced 33 chicken-related matches. Most were not chicken specialists: some were pizza, fish-and-chip, kebab, butcher or general restaurant records returned because a subtype or search query mentioned chicken.

After the approved records were checked against current official or merchant-controlled public sources, 14 locations had a clear chicken-led role. Six were neighbourhood or local-specialist food businesses, seven were national-chain locations, and one was a fresh-poultry retailer. That distinction is more useful than forcing every result into one ranked list.

Neighbourhood charcoal chicken and local specialists

These businesses are not interchangeable. Some lead with whole charcoal chicken and family packs; others combine chicken with Greek or Vietnamese food traditions. The links below show the service model observed during this check, not a guarantee that every item is available today.

Bayswater

Chicken and Souvlaki Co

A hybrid takeaway covering charcoal chicken, chicken packs, souvlaki, gyros and related Greek-style takeaway choices. It suits the question “chicken or souvlaki?” without making a family decide between two separate shops.

McAdam Square, Croydon

Amigo’s Charcoal Chicken

A neighbourhood charcoal-chicken business at 34 McAdam Square. Its official public Page identifies it as a fast-food restaurant serving charcoal chicken; confirm the current menu and hours directly.

Croydon Main Street

Bunmee and Fried Chicken

A different chicken route: Vietnamese bánh mì and noodle bowls with a distinct fried-chicken range, rather than the familiar whole-chicken-and-chips model.

Croydon

Tasty and Tender Charcoal Chicken

A charcoal-chicken takeaway with chicken, packs, burgers, salads, sides and hot dishes. It is the more traditional local family-meal model in the Croydon set.

Ringwood East

The Bridge Charcoal Chicken

A charcoal-chicken shop whose current merchant menu also covers family deals, value packs, sides, schnitzels, gyros and burgers. This is a broad takeaway menu built around chicken rather than a single-product counter.

Ringwood North

North Ringwood Charcoal Chicken

A neighbourhood shop offering charcoal chicken, packs, burgers and rolls, hot dishes, salads and sides. Its direct ordering page makes the classic family-pack model easy to understand before visiting.

The chain layer is part of the map too

Chain locations should not be presented as independent local discoveries, but excluding them would make the guide less useful. They are part of how residents buy chicken, especially around the Maroondah Highway and Eastland corridor.

Bayswater North

El Jannah Chicken

The official Bayswater North page describes Lebanese charcoal chicken alongside fried chicken, rolls, boxes and sides, with dine-in, takeaway and ordering routes.

Ringwood

KFC: two current locations

The approved snapshot records KFC Ringwood on Maroondah Highway and KFC Eastlands Food Court inside Eastland. They are separate locations with different access and service settings.

Eastland, Ringwood

Nando’s

A flame-grilled chicken restaurant inside Eastland. Its official location page lists dine-in, pickup, delivery and catering routes, so it belongs to a different service model from food-court fried chicken.

Red Rooster: three current locations

The approved snapshot records Red Rooster locations in Bayswater North, Ringwood and Vermont. The brand covers roast and fried chicken formats; check the exact local page because access, hours and ordering options differ by location.

Chicken to cook at home is a separate lane

Eastland, Ringwood

Poultry Creations

This is why classification matters. Poultry Creations is a fresh-poultry kiosk, not a cooked-chicken takeaway. Its official Eastland page describes fresh chicken prepared for sale, poultry cuts, gourmet products and ready-made meals. It answers “what chicken should I cook?” rather than only “where should I get dinner?”

What the current map does not prove

The verified locations cluster in Bayswater, Bayswater North, Croydon, Ringwood, Ringwood East, Ringwood North and Vermont. That does not mean the other MX suburbs have no chicken meals. A fish-and-chip shop, pub, café or supermarket may sell chicken without being a chicken-led business, and a specialist may be missing if it has weak public information.

The next update should therefore do two things: recheck the 14 current locations and look deliberately for missing neighbourhood specialists, rather than simply accepting every broad search return.

How this guide was made

MX began with the approved Food Business Master dated 18 August 2026. Broad category and search matches were treated as leads, not publication facts. Each included location then needed a current official page or merchant-controlled public ordering page that supported its stated service model.

Google ratings were not used to select or rank these businesses. This is an independent local directory, not an MX review, endorsement or paid placement.

Know a chicken specialist that the current map has missed, or has one of these businesses changed? Send MX the business name and a current public link so it can be checked against the same rules.
