Editorial standards and corrections
The Maroondah Exchange is a local publication covering useful news, events, community activity, food and practical information across Maroondah.
This page explains how to send MX a news tip, respond to an editorial enquiry, supply approved media material or request a correction.
Calm, useful local reporting
MX helps Maroondah residents understand what is happening nearby and find reliable information they can act on.
MX is community-first and editorially independent. We do not promise favourable coverage, and advertising or sponsorship does not determine whether a story, correction or event is considered.
How information is checked
MX uses organiser and venue information, council and community sources, and approved local records. Event dates, locations, costs and booking conditions are checked against the available source before a listing is approved. Information that is unresolved, cancelled or unavailable is held back from new recommendations.
Listings can change after a check. The organiser’s linked page is the source for current availability. A page update date records a change to the MX page; it does not mean every source was checked again that day.
Editorial responsibility and corrections
Garth Lategan is the editor of The Maroondah Exchange. Send a correction with the exact page link, the detail to be corrected and reliable supporting information. MX checks the evidence and updates material factual errors. Where a correction changes the meaning of published editorial coverage, a correction note explains the change.
Editorial inclusion is based on relevance and usefulness to readers. Paid placements are identified as sponsored or paid content. Payment does not remove factual, permission or disclosure checks.
What MX covers
We look for specific, useful and locally relevant information rather than gossip, political campaigning or promotional claims presented as news.
Local changes
Openings, closures, services, places and developments that affect everyday life in Maroondah.
Community information
Useful updates from local organisations, schools, clubs, services and community groups.

Local activities, family planning, food, opportunities and other information residents can use.

- the organisation, place or people involved
- the exact Maroondah location
- confirmed dates and times
- a direct official source or supporting document
- the name and role of an authorised contact

- provide the full name and role for any quoted spokesperson
- state whether information is on the record
- include a response deadline only when it is relevant
Supplying photos for publication
Only send images that your organisation owns or is authorised to provide.
When supplying an image, please confirm that The Maroondah Exchange may publish it on the MX website, newsletter and relevant MX social channels. Include the photographer or organisation credit and identify the people or location shown where appropriate.
Request a factual correction
MX welcomes clear correction requests. Please identify the page or item, the detail you believe is wrong, the accurate information and a source that allows us to check it.

Submitting an event is a separate pathway
Event organisers can provide complete first-party event details through the MX event submission system.
Submitting an event does not guarantee newsletter or editorial inclusion. MX reviews event information for relevance, usefulness, accuracy and available space.
Useful information, handled carefully
MX checks important details, distinguishes verified facts from claims and corrects material errors when reliable information becomes available.
