Croydon is the largest Mexican-food cluster in the current MX coverage area. Five of the 10 operational venues in this August guide are in Croydon. Ringwood has three, while Bayswater and Bayswater North have one each.
The numbers are small enough to understand at street level, and the two largest clusters have very different shapes.

Croydon and Ringwood form two different food hubs
Croydon’s five venues are spread around the town centre: Main Street, San Carlos Walk, Maroondah Highway and Mount Dandenong Road. That gives the suburb a mix of locations woven through its broader shopping and dining area.
Ringwood’s three records are all at Eastland. It is a strong cluster too, but it functions as one destination rather than a network of separate streets. Bayswater and Bayswater North extend the map east with one venue in each suburb.
Croydon: 5 venues
The largest cluster is spread across several streets and shopping locations around the town centre.
Ringwood: 3 venues
All three current Ringwood records sit at Eastland, creating a concentrated single-destination cluster.
The classification miss that changed the story
The first automated count found only four Croydon Mexican restaurants. TNT Mexican Restaurant was already an approved, operational record at 66 Main Street, but its scraped primary type was the generic label “Restaurant” and its subtypes were “Restaurant, Diner”.
Its business name, website and current public listing clearly identify Mexican food, so MX has included it through a documented editorial classification override. The correction lifts Croydon from four venues to five and the full guide from nine to 10.
This is why MX does not treat automated categories as the final word. Local knowledge and public verification remain part of the publishing process.
Five strong public-rating signals
For this dated comparison, a venue had to be in the 10-place guide and have at least 100 Google reviews. Eligible records were ordered by displayed rating, with review count separating equal ratings.
- TNT MEXICAN RESTAURANT, Croydon: 4.9 stars from 522 Google reviews
- GUAC & ROLL, Bayswater: 4.8 stars from 338 Google reviews
- Hecho en Mexico Eastland (Ringwood), Ringwood: 4.7 stars from 1,527 Google reviews
- Tres Amigos mexican restaurant in croydon | Tacos, Margaritas, Croydon: 4.7 stars from 139 Google reviews
- Carlos Cantina – Croydon, Croydon: 4.5 stars from 982 Google reviews
These are public rating signals, not MX awards and not a declaration of the area’s best Mexican restaurant. Ratings change, and they cannot compare dining format, menu style, value, dietary needs, atmosphere or the experience an individual reader wants.

What should a first-time visitor order?
The map can show where the venues are, but it cannot tell us which local taco, burrito, enchilada, margarita or family order people return for. Nor can it reliably describe regional style or dietary suitability without confirmation from the venue.
Share this guide with someone who enjoys Mexican food, then tell MX: Which local venue would you recommend, and what should a first-time visitor try?

Data note: this page uses the approved MX Food Business Master dated 18 August 2026. Nine records are approved, operational local businesses whose primary public category is Mexican restaurant. TNT Mexican Restaurant is an approved operational record included through a public-source editorial classification check completed on 20 August 2026. Chirnside Park is outside the defined MX food coverage area and is not included. Ratings, opening hours, menus, access and business details can change; check directly before visiting or ordering.
